Today's schedule is D-C-Lunch-A-B

C - Criminology 12 - Today I want you to continue with your brainstormed list of all the reasons you can think why someone would commit a crime. Yesterday I had two questions on the blogsite and today I'd like you to finish brainstorming:

1.What is the purpose of laws and what is a crime
2.Why do people commit crime

After a few minutes I'll ask you to partner up and get your ideas on a large sheet of paper to share with the class. We'll try to make sense of your ideas and then we'll try to categorize them into crime theory clusters.

For Monday, you need to create your own theory of why crime happens. Remember you need to use the brainstormed list we did in class along with the notes you take today on the history of Criminology. Use the Crime Theory Web Site found on this link. Tomorrow we'll watch an episode of Criminal Minds and try to make sense of the reasons why the offender committed the crime.

A - Earth & Space Science 11 - Today you'll start the class with your quiz on plate tectonics and earthquakes. This quiz should take about twenty minutes to half an hour to complete. After the quiz, we'll continue our work on volcanoes by looking at magma formation and magma behaviour. There will be a few notes with a diagram or two and then you'll need to work on "For Review" questions 2-8 and "For Discussion" questions 1& 2 from page 194 in your Earth Science and the Environment textbook. While you are working on your questions, I'll show you some footage of the different types of lava at Kilauea so that you can see how it moves and flows.
Today airspace in Europe was affected by the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland. All flights in and out of Britain were cancelled due to ash fall from the eruption in Iceland. Check out more photos at National Geographic and the article for it by CBC here.

B - Social Studies 10 - Today we start to wrap up our look at Canadian confederation by focusing on and taking some notes about the reaction in the colonies to the decisions made in Quebec. We will see the problems Tilley faced in New Brunswick, Tupper faced in Nova Scotia, Cartier faced in Canada East and examine the reasons why P.E.I. and Newfoundland refused to join with the Canadas. You need to work on questions 6 from page 57 and 9 & 13. Don't forget that you need to hand in your editorial cartoon today. Next Tuesday you'll have a unit final on Confederation....please get ready as it will be your first test/quiz mark of Term 4!
