Today's schedule is C-D-A-B

C Block Geography 12 - Today we're back in the library for our last class day to work on our Mass Wasting pamphlet and you can find the assignment on yesterday's blog entry. Today is the last day that I can give you for this assignment as the library is booked solid so you'll need to do some research on your own. This assignment is due this Friday and I'd like you to submit it digitally to me. Please save your document as a publisher file (.pub) and e-mail it to my school mail address...Thanks.

A Block Social Studies 11 - Today, with Ms. Krahn...we’ll start with your Interwar Years quiz – 10 multiple choice questions that have been taken from previous Provincial exams. Good luck! Remember, you all did really well with the review yesterday; you got this.

After that, we’ll pick up from where we left off yesterday and discuss the rise of the dictators in the 20′s and 30′s. We watched the WB propaganda cartoon ‘The Ducktators’ which introduced us to the key players of the Axis powers .

We’ll talk about the social and economic conditions that were present at the time, and why fascist regimes became popular.

I’ll show you this quick satirical clip from the ‘Australian fascist party’ (not real). After this, you will work on this rise of the dictators project.

Here is the handout you will receive

Start with using your Counterpoints textbook - pages 92-96 - and then use yesterday's blog site for links to help you with the rest of the assignment.

B Block Law 12 - Today we will begin our look at criminal law defenses focusing on alibi (disputing the Actus Reus) and automatism (disputing the Mens Rea) and I'll give you a few notes on both defenses. We'll review the Kenneth Parks homicidal somnambulism case (sleepwalking murder R. v. Parks, 1992). There is a great read on TruTV (used to be called Court TV) about the case. It is interesting to note that the same defense was attempted in Arizona in 1999....it failed. You can read about the case involving Scott Falater who stabbed his wife 44 times and claimed he was sleepwalking here. After we look at automatism as a defense, we'll also look at legal duty where we'll watch a video about the recreation of the Stanley Milgram experiment. This relates to the Shepardsville, Kentucky McDonald's sexual assault case and legal duty as a criminal law defence.
