Today's schedule is B-A-D-C

B Block Law 12 - OK, so since the server was down yesterday we didn't get a chance to stream the video I was hoping we'd watch. We discussed alibi, non-insane automatism and insane automatism in class. I'll have you work on questions 2, 4 and 5 from page 270. We'll look at intoxication, and the "excusable conduct" defenses of self-defense, necessity, duress, ignorance of the law, entrapment, and provocation Today, we'll watch the video about the recreation of the Stanley Milgram experiment. This relates to the Shepardsville, Kentucky McDonald's sexual assault case and provocation or entrapment as a criminal law defense. I'll need you to work on questions: 2 & 5 on page 273; 1, 3, & 5 on page 281; 4 & 5 page 283

A Block Social Studies 11 - Today with Ms. Krahn...we’ll start by finishing up the Rise of the Dictators grid. You’ll have a chance to share your individual dictator info with your group, and then we’ll go through all the info together as a class.

After this,we’ll watch the episode ‘The Strongmen’ from the CBC documentary called Love, Hate and Propaganda. The film shows us how each dictator we’ve looked at (except for Tojo – the film discusses Emperor Hirohito) used propaganda to gain absolute control over their citizens.

Next we’ll look at German aggression in European politics, the Japanese invasion of Manchuria, and the League Of Nations choosing appeasement at all costs in order to avoid war.

We’ll review the four main causes of WWII before the end of class, and discuss the differences between the outbreak of this war and WWI.

Here’s a graphic organizer of the causes:

Other Stuff:

Here’s a link to the ultimate Nazi propaganda film ‘Triumph of the Will

Film Info: Triumph of the Will was commissioned by Hitler in 1934 and directed by Leni Riefenstahl, and covers the events of the Sixth Nuremberg Party Congress. The original intention was to document the early days of the NSDAP, so future generations could look back and see how the Third Reich began. In reality, Triumph of the Will shows historians how the Nazi state drew in the masses through propaganda and also how Adolf Hitler had a unique and terrifying ability to entice crowds to his beliefs by the very power of his words.

Yesterday some of you were asking about the history of Jewish persecution. Here’s a link to a timeline of these events (anti-Semitism and persecution). http://www.simpletoremember.com/articles/a/HistoryJewishPersecution/

C Block Geography 12 - Today we will quickly review rivers and streams (floodplains) and after we will discuss floods and watch portion of a video on the Red River flood of 1997 ("Flood of the Millennium") as well as the Raging Planet video on floods. Then, you'll need to work on the Red River flood study in your week 9 package.
