Today's schedule is D-AG-C-B-A

D Block Social Studies 11 - Yesterday you worked on questions 2, 3, and 5 from page 98 in the Counterpoints text and we quickly reviewed the rise of the Dictators in Europe. Today we'll look at Canada's response to the War, the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan and the concept of Total War. To help with this you'll need to work on with questions 1 through 4 on page 105 of the Counterpoints text. While you're accomplishing this, we'll watch the first part of the CBC series Love, Hate and Propaganda focusing on the first episode "The Strongmen". From the CBC website...

The Strongmen is the story of Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin and Emperor Hirohito of Japan. Each employed propaganda in their own way to gain absolute control over their citizens. In Italy, the face of fascism is that of Benito Mussolini, a colourful performer, and a brutal thug who counts Hitler as his friend and ally. In Russia, Joseph Stalin's insistence on total devotion would range from the horrific to the tragic-comic. And in Japan, Emperor Hirohito is seen as a demi-God, able to protect his people from all outside threats.

The Spanish Civil War in 1936 is effectively a dress rehearsal for the real war that would soon erupt between the Axis and Allied powers, and Communist and Fascist ideologies. In the Pacific, Japan launches a brutal attack on Nanking, foreshadowing the barbarity that would soon engulf Europe.

Your 1920's - 1930's quiz will be Monday (December 5th) so please prepare this weekend.

C Block Law 9/10 - Today we will begin our look at crime scene investigation. We will look at the basic stages of a search, documenting evidence, and we'll see examples of what is included in a crime scene investigator's toolkit. After this, After we'll watch a Criminal Minds episode P911. From TV.COM...
A young boy who had disappeared a year ago turns up for sale by a child pornographer on an online auction. A former profiler who now heads the FBI's Innocent Images Unit asks Gideon and the BAU to help her save the boy's life. We'll try to make sense of the profile that the BAU creates at the end of the episode.

B Block Geography 12 - Today, we'll look at Thunderstorms. We will look at how thunderstorms develop and what damage they can do. I'll show you a few quick videos of hail and lightning to see how they form and then we'll watch the Lightning episode of Raging Planet. While this is on, you'll need to work on questions 13 and 14 from page 248 of your Geosystems textbook. A week from next Tuesday (December 13th) you'll have a unit final. UCAR: How Thunderstorms Work
