Today's schedule is B-A-Lunch-D-C
B - Social Studies 10 - Today we'll continue taking a look at topographic maps and we are going to focus on creating cross-section profiles. You'll need to do four cross sections on pages 35 & 35 of the Geographic Understandings textbook. There is a good tutorial on building topographic profiles on the Idaho State University Department of Geosciences website here. There's also a great on-line tutorial here as well and we'll work on it together in Class. After you are going to begin work on the Summerland topographic map (82E/12). The questions you need to work on are 1-8 on pages 50-52 of the Geographic Understandings text and you'll need your atlas to help as well. We will continue with this assignment tomorrow.
A - Earth & Space Science 11 - Yesterday we reviewed atoms and elements and today we'll focus on the crystalline structure of minerals and the physical properties of minerals (how to identify different types). We'll work on some questions from page 43 in the text (For Review q's 6-7-8-10-11-12) and we'll get ready for our first lab on identifying minerals which is tomorrow and Friday. A really good but very basic website on mineral identification can be found here.
C - Criminology 12 - Today we will finish last week's Power Point presentation on the history of crime and law (looking at Hammurabi, the Mosaic Code and the development of Common Law in England). We'll learn what Actus Reus, Mens Rea, Mala in Se and Mala Prohibitum mean along with taking a look at the differences between Indictable, Summary Conviction and Absolute Liability Offences. We'll see what defences you can use and what the goals of criminal law are for society. You'll need to work on question from page of the Criminology: The Core textbook and then we'll discuss crime trends and how we tabulate crime statistics (UCR, PRVS, Self-Reports). Don't forget to e-mail me your blogsite addresses for last Monday's blog entry assignment.
