Today's schedule is D-C-Lunch-A-B

C - Criminology 12 - Today we will be in the library working on our first journal / blog entry. Over the long weekend I asked you to develop your own theory as to why crime happens. I asked you to use the list of brainstormed items from our class discussions, your notes on the history of criminology and from the Crime Theory website. Today you will need to set up a blog for the course. You may use Google's Blogspot, Wordpress, Live Journal, Bloguni, or any other blog creation site you choose. I would HIGHLY recommend staying with blogspot, wordpress, or live journal. You will need to develop a blog, write out your crime theory, and then find an article about a recent crime here in British Columbia. Make a link to the news article on your blogsite and then write how your theory explains the crime.

A - Earth & Space Science 11 - Today we'll go over the work we completed Friday for our chapter 1 review. After, we'll start to look at minerals and mineral structure. We'll review elements, atoms, and chemical bonds in class and take a look at the crystaline nature of minerals. There will be homework tonight on these topics ("For Review" questions 1-6 on page 43 in the Earth Science and the Environment textbook). Our first lab will be later on this week (identifying minerals on Thursday and Friday this week) and a reminder that our first quiz will be next week.
Tim & Moby will help us undertsand Atomic structure today as will our friend Bill Nye but if you need more help with atomic structure look at : Chem4Kids

B - Social Studies 10 - Today we'll continue with our work in the Geographic Understandings book (they're the green geography books in the class). Friday we worked on scale direction and distance and today I'd like to work on map symbols, relief and contours. You'll need to work through the following:

1.Page 24 questions 1, 2, and 3

The Natural Resources Canada website Toporama is a great resource to understand topographic map basics. Check out their Tips and Hints site here. There is a good tutorial on building topographic profiles on the Idaho State University Department of Geosciences website here. There's also a great tutorial here as well.
