A - Earth & Space Science 11 - Today we'll finish up our look at Chapter 1 in the Earth Science & the Environment textbook. I'll quickly review yesterday's questions on geologic time, uniformitarianism, and thresholds & systems. I'll ask you to take down a diagram of the internal structure of the Earth and then we'll watch the Amazing Planet video "Born of Fire" (there's a five minute section of it posted on YouTube below). After the video we'll work on a Chapter 1 review together and then we're done for the week.
Don't forget your spheres poster is due Monday and you need to:
- Find a picture that shows / demonstrates each sphere
- Explain how each picture shows / demonstrates that sphere
- Identify and explain how each sphere is connected (Atmosphere to Lithosphere, Atmosphere to Hydrosphere, Atmosphere to Biosphere, Lithosphere to Biosphere, Lithosphere to Hydrosphere, and Biosphere to Hydrosphere)
For direction you'll need to work on questions 1-4 on pages 8 & 9 and for scale & distance you'll need to work on question 4 on page 17 and question 1 on page 18. Tuesday you'll need to bring coloured pencils to class because you'll be drawing maps of the school.
C - Criminology 12 - Today I want to finish up our first week of work on Chapter 1 and you'll need to work on question 3 from page 25 of the Criminology: The Core textbook. Next, I'll show you a Law & Order Criminal Intent episode today (The Third Horseman from season 1) and you can tell me what view of crime helps to explain the criminal's actions (Conflict, Consensus, or Interactionist).
Pau Hana!
