C - Criminology 12 - Today we'll start by reviewing yesterday's work on Criminal Law. Remember we focused on where our criminal law comes from (English Common Law & precedents) and looked at both Mala in se and Mala Prohibitum along with Indictable Offences and Summary Conviction Offences. Today we'll focus on the purposes of criminal law and examine what justification and excusable defences exist in Canadian Law. I'll have you work on questions 1 & 3 from page 25 of the Criminology: The Core textbook and you can find help on page 4 (Beccaria & Utilitarianism) and 18-20 (purposes of criminal law).
B - Social Studies 10 - Today we'll continue with our topographic map assignment for Summerland BC (look above...it's the 4th edition map from 2008 and the one in your text is the 2nd edition...what differences are there?). Don't forget, the questions you need to work on are 1-8 (you will not have to do question 8d) on pages 50-52 of the Geographic Understandings text and you'll need your atlas to help as well. We'll look at Summerland on Google Maps because you can see a satellite (Google Earth) view and a terrain view which has the topographic contours on it.
A - Earth & Space Science 11 - Today we will begin our first lab in the course. Before we get to the lab we'll finish up our notes on the identification of minerals. Yesterday we looked at colour, hardness, luster, and streak and today we'll add crystal form, cleavage, and other special properties. The lab is on mineral identification and you and a partner need to work through the mineral identification chart in class today. We will continue working on this tomorrow.
