Today's schedule is C-D-A-B
C Block Geography 12 - Today and tomorrow we are going to take a look at climatology and
climate types on the planet. We will make sense of the Koppen climate
classification system and today you'll need to explain in your own words
the follwing climates: Af, Am, Aw, Cfb, Csa, Csb, Dfb, Dwb, Dfc, Dwc, ET (don't say it!), Bw, and Bs (Many thanks to Michael Ritter for his on line Physical Environment textbook!). You'll also need to complete questions 9, 14, and 19 from page 326 in your Geosystems text.

Don't forget that you have a poster that is due this Thursday...yep that's two days from today.
D Block Criminology 12 - Today we are going to the library to work on our next blog /
journal entry. Below, you'll find a question on hypermasculinity, male
socialization, and sexual assault. I will need you to answer that
question and then find a news story about a sexual assault. You will
need to try to explain the motivation and roots of the behaviour of the
assaulter in the story.
Explain how sexual behaviour could be
socialized in males. Do you think that males who commit sexual assault
are "hypermasculine"? Why and where do men learn "hypermasculine"
behaviour?
The factors that predispose men to commit sexual
assault include evolutionary factors, male socialization, psychological
abnormality, and social learning. Most criminologists believe that rape
is not sexually motivated. The evolutionary and biological factors of
males suggest that sexual assault may be instinctual and developed over
the ages in an effort to perpetuate the species. This notion holds that
men who are sexually aggressive will have a reproductive edge over their
more passive peers. Conversely, the male socialization view argues that
men are socialized to be the aggressors and expect to be sexually
active with many women. Sexual insecurity, then, may then lead some men
to commit sexual assault to bolster their self-image. Hypermasculine men
typically have a callous sexual attitude and believe that violence is
manly. Finally, another view is that men learn to commit sexual assaults
as they learn any other behaviour.

B Block Law 12 - Today we'll continue with our look at intentional torts focusing on trespass to property and trespass to person (assault and battery & false imprisonment)
along with defences to these intentional torts (consent, self-defence, defence of a
third party, defence of property, legal authority, and necessity).
Tomorrow we'll look at defamation of character and strict
liability in civil law. This gets us to the end of the torts unit in Law
12 and then we'll begin our look at family law. For the time left
in class you have another opportunity to work on your major project.

A Block Social Studies 11 - Today we will finish our look at the radical transformation of Canadian
society in the later half of the 20th Century. I'll go over the work
from the last three days and we'll try to make sense of the dizzying
pace of change that altered our "identity". The overarching question
we'll try to answer is:
To what extent have Local, National, and Global forces shaped Canadian identity?
I'll give you a review for your unit test this Friday...this test will cover the cold war political and social worlds. Tomorrow
sees us begin our look at the state of the world today - focusing on
population, differing standards of living, economic development,
environmental concerns and the conflict that arises from the combination
of these factors.
