Today's schedule is A-B-C-D

A & D - Criminology 12 - Today we'll start by reviewing yesterday's discussion of violence as entertainment and after a few notes we'll reinforce the concept (ironically) by watching a Law & Order Special Victim's Unit episode. We'll complete our discussion with a few notes on the question: Where does violence come from? We'll look at personal traits, ineffective families, evolutionary factors, exposure to violence, cultural values, substance abuse, and firearm availability.

The Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit episode we're watching today is called "Closure". This episode deals with the short and long-term effects of a sexual assault on a victim. From TV.com "Benson does her best to help a rape victim who is able to describe her attack in perfect detail, yet unable to properly identify her attacker when push comes to shove. When the detectives revisit the case a few months later, they find the woman even less willing to talk about what happened, as she claims she has moved on." I want you to think hard during this episode and pay careful attention to what happens with Harper's character. Use what you watched today to help you with your blog entry that you started this past Monday.

B - Earth & Space Science 11 - Today we are back in the library to continue work on our major semester long project. Remember it is your responsibility to create a review of the Earth & Space Science curriculum for a student in grade 7 (12 to 13 years old). Just a heads up...there are only 3 weeks left until your last check in for your project and after today there are only 5 more classes in the library until your project is due. No pressure.

C - Geography 12 - Today we are in the library for day two of research for our severe weather power point project. Remember that there are these things in the library called "books"; you may remember what they look like...there are paper pages with pictures and information on them bound together. Sarcasm aside please remember that you will need to have at least one print (book or magazine) source for your presentation. I have books in my room on severe weather that you might want to look at. The purpose of this project is to learn about severe weather and your topic in depth. Please do not plagiarize work and present it as if it were your own. Show me what you have learned. Today is our last day to work on this during class time so don't get lost on youtube watching videos of people getting struck by lightning or hit by hail (no matter how cool that is!) Having said that the Discovery Channel has a great series called Raging Planet with some cool video footage that you could embed in your power point presentation here: Discovery Channel Raging Planet

Click here at the Weather Channel to see the before and after photos of the Alabama tornadoes that caused horrific damage last week.
