Today's schedule is A-B-Lunch-C-D
A - Earth & Space Science 11 - I was able to secure another day in the library today to work on our mining poster. Remember that you need to gather information about one specific substance mined in Canada and there are many minerals, ores, gems, metals, and fossil fuels that you may choose from. The mining assignment is due this Friday February 26th (2 days from today). Don't forget that you need to get your mining questions from page 120 in to me and that you have a quiz this Friday (on Intro to Earth Sciences - Chapter 1 - and Minerals - Chapter 2).
B - Social Studies 10 - Today is day two for our work on explaining and identifying the six physiographic regions of Canada. We'll use the Atlas along with the Canadian Atlas on line to go through each one of the regions - identifying the geologic structures, natural resources, climate types, ecosystems, population patterns and other cool stuff. This work will help you with your project and will be handed in with your project on Monday March 1st. Don't forget your unit test this Friday (February 26th - 2 days from now!) This unit test will cover map conventions (skills and comprehension), geographic basics (latitude, longitude, direction, and time zones), topographic map interpretation, and the physiographic regions of Canada.
C - Criminology 12 - Today I'll review yesterday's work on the three theories of victimization and the two questions from the end of the chapter. To bridge the topics of violent crime and victimization I'll have you create a poster showing a typical victim of a violent crime. You will need to choose a type of violent crime (homicide, assault, sexual assault, criminal harassment - stalking, hate crimes, kidnapping) and identify the personal characteristics, behaviours, and traits of the most likely victim of that crime (consider age, gender, social status, relationship status, race or ethnicity, prior victimization, behaviour, location, culture, etc...). You'll need to explain & draw the victim and then describe the theory of victimization that explains why they would fall prey to that crime.
