It's Bike to Work Week! Ride your bike to school this week and register each day at the front entrance. Each day you ride & register you get an entry for a draw to win this Sweet Kona Fire Mountain bike. Tomorrow please be sure to hand in your passports to the leadership students at the front entrance. The draw for the winning prize will take place on Tuesday, after the long weekend.

Today's schedule is A-B-Lunch-C-D

A - Social Studies 11 - Today with Mr. Lux you will begin the class with current events. Remember that you will be responsible for bringing a news item to class and each day we'll have five students share. After you'll work on a few definitions from the Cold War and continue looking at the feature film "Why We Fight." This documentary neatly ties together what has been learned about WWI, The Interwar Years, WWII, and also leads the class into the rationale behind the Cold War.

B- Social Studies 10 - To start the class with Mr. Lux today we'll begin with current events. Remember that you will be responsible for bringing a news item to class and each day we'll have five students share. After, a slide show will be shown illustrating some historical images during the construction of the CPR and shortly thereafter. This will be followed by students taking part in an activity where critical thinking will be required to answer questions on the construction of the railway, and some of the economic/political spin-offs resulting in having this new infrastructure in place.

C - Criminology 12 - Today we will take some time to finish our look at the roots of violence. We'll examine modern media messages and watch a few Warner Brothers cartoons. Then, we'll discuss murder and homicide, including the divisions of murder in Canada (1st and 2nd degree and manslaughter), the extent of murder in Canada, and murderous relations (acquaintance and stranger homicide). We'll also discuss mass and serial murder (focusing on Fox & Levin's study "Multiple Homicide: Patterns of Serial and Mass Murder").
