Today's schedule is B-A-Lunch-D-C

Welcome Back family! I hope that your May long weekend was restful and you enjoyed yourself. As for me, the Mount Saint Helens trip was amazing with great adventures, spectacular weather, and Bill Nye the Science Guy.

B - Social Studies 10 - Today we will spend some time reviewing the work that you did with Mr. Lux. This review will give you a good gage as to whether you are prepared for the final exam (in about one month from now). We'll end off by discussing the insane geography that the CPR was constructed upon. We'll look at the stretches of northern Ontario where track was built and then rebuilt again due to "geographic difficulties". Tomorrow we'll learn about Andrew Onderdonk and the railway through BC and you'll start storyboarding your next major project (a children's book on the building of the CPR).

A - Social Studies 11 - Today we will spend some time reviewing the work that you did with Mr. Lux. This review will give you a good gage as to whether you are prepared for the Provincial exam (in about one month from now). We'll end off the class by examining the Cold War in greater detail. We'll learn about the economic and political ramifications on Canada of an ideological conflict between the two superpowers. Tomorrow, in order to get a better grasp on Cold War culture, we'll watch a few sections of the movie "The Atomic Cafe" which includes the classic government civil defense film "Duck and Cover".

C - Criminology 12 - Today we are back in the library working on our next journal/blog entry. I'd like you to explain the types of serial and mass murderer along with the reasons why they commit these crimes. You can find the answers to this in the work of Jack Levin and James Alan Fox "Multiple Homicide: Patterns of Serial and Mass Murder". The summary of their work is on pages 234 and 235 of the textbook in the Criminological Enterprise section. I'd then like you to find a news article about either a serial murderer or mass murderer (in Canada or the United States) and try to explain what you think their motivations were (based on Levin & Fox's work). For more info look at the work of John Douglas (former FBI profiler) on mindhunter.com (look in the article section and there is a great read entitled "So, you want to become a profiler...")
