A Block Geography 12 -Today we'll begin looking at Albedo, energy distribution, the greenhouse effect and temperature (if there's time we'll watch the BBC DVD “The Weather” episode on heat... Grrrr, Donal MacIntyre is doing my job!). NASA has a good website (Earth Observatroy Global Warming) that tries to explain the concept of climate change and global warming without a biased political viewpoint for or against the subject. Check it out. You could also look at the Hyper Physics website from the department of Physics and Astronomy at Georgia State University.
Every day we are going to start by looking at the synoptic forecast along with weather maps.

B & C Blocks Social Studies 11 -We'll finish episode 1 of "The Dark Years" a National Film Board cartoon about the Great Depression in Canada. You'll need to wrap up your questions and then we'll focus on the political parties that emerged in reaction to the harsh economic and political climate of the time. We will look at the Union Nationale (Maurice Duplessis), the Social Credit Party (William "Bible Bill" Aberhart) and the Co-Operative Commonwealth Federation (J.S. Woodsworth). We'll even talk about the Canadian Nationalist Party (Joseph Farr) and the National Social Christian Party (Adrien Arcand) which were both unabashedly fascist (Arcand eventually became the leader of the National Unity Party). Lastly you'll need to work on questions 1 & 2 on page 89.
D Block Crime, Media and Society 12 - So...we'll be in the library to work on the online classroom site (wejit)...Once you log on to the computers in the library click on the following link where I'd like you to work through the How Much Media do you Consume? question followed by the question on the The Highway of Tears...Remember you need to find out as much as you can on the Highway of Tears and then you need to tell me what you found out about the media's coverage of the Highway of Tears.
Look at this Kaiser Family Foundation study from 2010; it will give us a good idea about amounts of media youth consume (Generation M2) . Last Thursday I asked you to write down what media format you interacted with for a time period throughout the day and to guestimate how much time you interacted with it. I know that you are a generation of multitaskers (and that you are interacting with this blog right now) so try to be as honest as you can about what you consume/interact with.
