Today's schedule is D-C-B-A

D Block Social Studies 11 - Today with Ms. Curry...We'll watch an episode of "Boom and Bust," which will show the booms of the 20s and the beginning of the Depression. Afterwards, I'll give you a worksheet to complete after you look at these Stock Market Crash questions:

What is the significance of Tuesday, October 29, 1929?
Why do you think this happened?

Please define these terms: Red Scare (Communism), Autonomy, Depression, Branch Plants, Slums, Urbanization, Group of Seven. Here is a sheet with some important economic vocabulary.

C Block Criminology 12 - Today we're back in the library to continue your research for your seminar topic (next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) where you have between five to ten minutes to present information on a criminology topic to the class. You can look at a specific crime, a specific criminal, a specific criminological theory, a criminal justice & enforcement technique that reduces crime, or any other criminological topic but it really should be of interest to you. So if you're really interested in gangs you can choose that (what they do, how they do it, where they operate). If you're really interested in a specific gang you can choose that (the Hells Angels or the Bandidos). If you're really interested in how police infiltrate gangs you can choose that. What should this look like? You'll have five minutes and you can use either your blog or powerpoint or some web based resource for graphic information. Tell the class what you found out about your topic and why it interests you.

Now there is a very good article on Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera titled The Real 'El Chapo' at Stratfor. 'El Chapo' is the leader of the Sinaloa cartel which is a rival group to Los Zetas that we looked at earlier on in the week. The article gives a nice timeline of control and violence perpetrated in the Mexican drug war by the Sinaloa cartel. Read more: The Real 'El Chapo' | Stratfor
