Today's schedule is B-Ag-A-D-C

In order to accommodate Vanier Idol, today's blocks have been altered. The schedule for the day looks like this:

B Block Law 12 - Today in Law I would like you to read the Thomas v Hamilton Board of Education (1994) case and we'll talk about it together. If there's time then I'd like to look at the Thornton et al. v. Board of School Trustees of School District No. 57 (Prince George) et al. (1978) case together (kind of an important case for non-pecuniary loss in Canada). We'll discuss this case and then we will spend the rest of the class looking over the ten sob stories who walk through the doors of your imaginary law firm for your major project.


A Block Social Studies 11 - We'll take a look at Canada's role in the post-Vietnam world in two sections - the Trudeau Era and the Mulroney Era. Today we'll start with the Trudeau era. I'll give you a few notes and then I'll have you continue your definitions from yesterday including: CIDA, la Francophonie, SALT, SDI, FIRA, FTA, NAFTA, Glasnost, Perestroika and the end of the Cold War. You'll need to work on questions 2, 3, and 4 from page 150 from the Counterpoints textbook today.

D Block Criminology 12 - Today we'll watch the Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit episode "Closure" This episode deals with the short and long-term effects of a sexual assault on a victim.

From TV.com "Benson does her best to help a rape victim who is able to describe her attack in perfect detail, yet unable to properly identify her attacker when push comes to shove. When the detectives revisit the case a few months later, they find the woman even less willing to talk about what happened, as she claims she has moved on."

I want you to think hard during this episode and pay careful attention to what happens with Harper's character. What are the short and long term impacts on victims of Crime? Use Harper in the Law & Order episode you watched today and Chapter 3 pages 54-7 in Criminology: The Core textbook to help. This will form the basis of your blog entry on Monday.

C Block Geography 12 - Today we'll continue our look at weather; working on an activity called “Air: The High and Low of it” in your week 14 package. After you have finished this activity you need to complete questions 19 and 21 from page 177 in your Geosystems textbook.

Don't forget, we'll start the class by looking at the synoptic chart for North America and begin to understand weather station plots. Take some time on the following sites to learn more and to practice your weather operational analysis capabilities:
