First Day - Wednesday September 8. 2010

Welcome back family!

I hope your summer was restful and you're ready to go. For those students in grade 12 enjoy your senior year and make it memorable. Today's schedule is altered due to the first week so here's what the day looks like:

8:55 - 9:25 Advisory Group
9:30 - 10:30 A Block (Introduction to Law 9/10)
10:35 - 11:35 B Block
11:35 - 12:30 Lunch
12:30 - 1: 50 C Block (Law 12)
1:55 - 3:10 D Block (Geography 12)

A Block Law 9/10 - Welcome everyone. Today we don't actually have class as there will be an assembly for all grade 9 and 10 students in the gym for the entire block. Tomorrow when you come to class I'd like you to explain what a crime is to me and brainstorm a list of all the reasons you can think why someone would commit a crime so try to think about that tonight.

C Block Law 12 - Welcome to Law 12. Today we will go through the course outline package and then we'll talk about career paths that are available with Law. Next we'll get together in groups and discuss what crime is, why we have laws, and figure out the difference between what is legal what is moral and what is ethical. We'll put that together on some large sheets of paper and end with a class discussion on what we worked on in groups.

D Block Geography 12 - Welcome to Geography 12...the most important class you'll ever take in your life. Today we'll go through the course outline and then we will begin by learning to observe as a geographer would. We'll head outside for some observational and analytical skill development. Be prepared to look beyond simple observations and try to see a larger picture with connections to the wider world. We'll practice an analysis of a photo in class and you'll start working on your first assignment for the course.
