Today's schedule is D-C-Lunch-A-B

C - Criminology 12 - OK so this is it. This is the last day to get your seminar topic prepared and ready to go for tomorrow or Thursday. Now let's talk about stress. Some of you are not too fond of public speaking and find it an unpleasant experience. It doesn't have to be. You have five minutes (or more if you need it) to present information on a criminology topic to the class. The information is about something you are interested in and why you are interested in it. Some of you have indicated that you're panicking about speaking in front of the class which is both natural and actually kind of funny (given that you all have done this already just not in a structured format). So look through the following websites to help you plan for your talk:

A - Earth & Space Science 11 - Today, we'll continue our look at the astronomy section of Earth and Space Science. You need to hand in your Stars and Galaxies Worksheets # 1 & 2 along with "For Review" questions 1-7 on page 546. We will work through the last set of work together over the next two days. You'll get Stars & Galaxies Worksheets # 3 & 4 (which deal with red-blue shift, star sequences, nebulas and galaxies) The Earth and Moon Worksheet # 1 and The Sun and Solar System Worksheets # 2 & 3 (which deal with Kepler's laws and the planets). We'll work through most of this together in class. Don't forget that this material is on the Final Exam so it would be important to pay attention and get the work done.
So last night it rained....hard. You probably couldn't take a picture of Venus so tonight if it's clear you should still be able to locate it very close to the Moon. On Thursday the 17th you might get a glimpse of both Mars and Saturn in approximate location to the Moon. You’ll find Mars every evening now in the west when the sun goes down. Mars is reddish: it’s “the Red Planet.” It shines steadily. It looks different from an ordinary star, but its brightness has now dimmed. It’s not as noticeable as it was in January or February. Check out earthsky for more info on how to locate them.
If we can get to it today we'll watch the Universe episode: Life and Death of a Star (If not we'll watch it tomorrow). It is important to note that you are made from stellar material and you consume stellar material so you should understand its properties and nature.

B - Social Studies 10 - Today is your last day in the library to work on your Economy of BC pamphlet. I will post your marks again for you to see. Why? Some of you have yet to hand in 'Ole Bill Coot and your CPR childrens book. You should be compiling information and formating your pamphlet today but if you need information look at last Wednesday's blog (June 9th) for the URL links I posted. Tomorrow we'll begin a review in class for your final exam (that takes place in the gym next Monday morning).
