D/C Blocks Social and Environmental Sciences - Today we start with Benton in 145 where you'll continue Net Primary Production and look at it in a comparable manner across biomes.
For the second part of the morning we regroup with Benton and Young to begin our look at agriculture. Our key issue today will be "Where Did Agriculture Originate?" I'll have you look at crop and domesticated animal hearths and have you understand the difference between subsistence and commercial agriculture.
B Block Human Geography - So, because we skipped around a bit, today we'll start with the Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown visit to Hawai'i. We are watching this to examine the concept of local (folk) culture through an exploration of what it means to be Hawaiian and the challenges that poses with a global (popular) culture. Remember from the video yesterday, living in Hawai'i doesn't make you Hawaiian, it makes you a resident of Hawai'i. So, often people confuse culture and identity and food .You'll have some questions to work on for me
A Block Legal Studies - I need you to wrap up your work before tomorrow's test/quiz/twiz/quest thingy. We will discuss, not write, the answers to the following:
AAL p. 187
3. Why is it important for judges to be impartial?
4. Why is the role of a court recorder so important to the appeal process?
AAL p. 194
1. Describe the steps followed in jury selection.
2. Identify eight categories of people who are excluded from jury duty, and give one reason why you think each category is ineligible.
3. Explain the difference between a peremptory challenge and a challenge for cause.
After, I will give you a double sided handout reviewing key terms from chapters 4, 5, and 6 that we'll go through together which will assist you in getting ready for tomorrow.
