B Block Legal Studies - You asked for an extra day and you've got it. Your two criminal law memos are due this Friday and tomorrow we start with the differences between criminal and civil law. Before we head to the learning commons, to start today, we'll discuss the the principles of sentencing (deterrence, retribution, rehabilitation, resocialization, and segregation); the options for sentencing; along with considerations in sentencing; and finally sentencing, healing, and releasing circles. We'll understand absolute discharge, conditional discharge, probation, mitigating circumstances, aggravating circumstances, suspended sentence, concurrent sentence, consecutive sentence, intermittent sentence, indeterminate sentence, parole, day parole, statutory release, and pardon.




C Block Social and Environmental Sciences - From 12:45pm to 1:45pm you'll be taking part in the  Vancouver Island Post-Secondary Tour for all grade 11 and 12 students. The University of Victoria, Vancouver Island University, Camosun College and North Island College will be hosting a live virtual event to present the following topics:
  1. Introduction to Vancouver Island post-secondary institutions 
  2. Pathways, partnerships, and information on transfer options 
  3. Resources and tips to support program, school, and career exploration in BC  
  4. Information on post-secondary during COVID
After, Benton and I will introduce you to your final assignment for the course and then you have time to work on your Mauna Kea questions, your Mount Arrowsmith topo map assignment or other work that needs to get handed in for this class. After today there are 11 classes remaining in the course.
