Happy 25th Birthday to my son Noah!

Today's classes are:

 9:15 - 11:50 A Block Criminology

12:30 - 3:05 D Block Social and Environmental Sciences

A Block Criminology - Since we didn't get to it earlier and the doc was taken down from YouTube, some people think that since there is so much crime happening they feel the need to take on crime themselves. There are some costumed "super-hero" vigilantes in Seattle - members of the Rain City Superhero Movement. Check out the Seattle PI article on them here. You can check out the article and video from Good Morning America on Phoenix Jones broken nose here. You can watch the Young Turks video on the Rain City Superheroes here.

We'll watch some of the full doc

D Block Social and Environmental Sciences - Today we are in the library / learning commons to finish our work on palm oil. Remember, you need to look through the Guardian Interactive on Palm Oil and work through a handout (courtesy of Geographypods) that I gave you Monday. We hope to have a conversation with you based on a few of the tasks we asked, such as:

Task 9 – Can Palm Oil be sustainable. Listen to the embedded PodCasts on the site and make notes on whether the experts think that Palm Oil production can be sustainable

Task 17 – Carry out a short investigation into a company that uses Palm Oil irresponsibly. What is being done about it?

Feel free to use The Guardian Palm Oil Debate website for help.

Using Palm Oil as an example, How do we protect peoples livelihoods and the environment?

With the time remaining you can work on Benton's science activity he gave you yesterday.
