Happy New Year! Friday, September 11. 2020

Welcome back to Vanier; it's been a while!

As you know things look very different this year. You will have just two classes each day and each class will last approximately 2 and a half hours in length. For the Social and Environmental Sciences 11 class, your "homeroom" (there is no Advisory Group this year) will be in Room 115 with Benton and Young. This is where you'll be on Friday morning, where we will try to explain the new procedures for safety and health at Vanier. Please make sure you sanitize your hands just inside the door before you find a place to sit.

The SES 11 class (D Block) will run all the way through to the end of January 2021. Criminology 12 (A Block) will run until November 13th which will be the end of the first semester/term/period/whatever you wish to call it. Today you will all get timetables and will be able to find out which "Learning Group/Team/Cohort" you are in. Students (you) within cohorts must endeavor to minimize physical contact but physical distancing need not be maintained, however you must maintain physical distancing outside of an established cohort and remain a minimum of 2 metres apart. So for A Block (Criminology), you are all in the same learning group/cohort and for D Block (Social and Environmental Sciences), you are all in the same learning group/cohort. This means that in the classroom you do not need to worry about the 2 meter physical distancing and masks in the class (masks are required in the hallways and when you cannot physically distance from someone outside of your cohort). The daily schedule looks like this...

So much to talk about however today's schedule looks like this:

9:15 am – Go directly to D Block class (Benton and I will meet you out front and bring you to #115)

11:20 am – Students move to A Block

11:25 am-12:20 pm – A Block

Busses leave, starting at 12:30 pm

Above all, we're all just really happy to have this opportunity to be back in the building working with you, regardless of the restrictions and impositions that are on us. I look forward to seeing what you're interested in learning about both in Criminology and in Social and Environmental Sciences as there's lots of current, socially relevant, issues to pick apart. Welcome back, we're happy you're here!
