B Block Human Geography - Today we will be going to the Library/Learning Commons for another day to work on your Inquiry Project. Today is another check in day. I'll need you to show me the research you've conducted connected to the question that you've narrowed your topic into. I will need you to develop a plan (road map) for your inquiry. What do you need to do? How do you plan to go about doing it? When do you plan on getting it done. Don't forget this is an active research project and I expect you'll need to go out into the community to interview people so who do you need to talk to and when will you talk with them?
A Block Physical Geography - Today we'll continue our look at severe weather focusing on hurricanes. We'll look at the conditions necessary for hurricane development and then look at the Saffir-Simpson scale (wind speed, storm surge, and damage to structures). Your activity will be to track (plot out the path) of Hurricane Diana from 1984 and answer two questions. For more on predicting Hurricane Landfall check out: Predicting Hurricanes and the NOAA Predicting Hurricanes site too.
While you are working on the questions I'll show you some footage of Hurricane Ike and the damage done to Galveston Island (on the Raging Planet Hurricane episode)

D/C Blocks Environmental & Social Sciences - Benton and I will ask you to start in 145 with us. We will check in with you about your inquiry project. Next we're off to the learning commons/library to conduct as much research about the broad topic you want to conduct inquiry into. Benton and I will have interviews with you (a check in) to show us the research question you've created, connected to the broad area of inquiry that you are going to narrow your topic into. We will need you to develop a plan (road map) for your inquiry. What do you need to do? How do you plan to go about doing it? When do you plan on getting it done? Don't forget this is an active research project and we expect you'll need to go out into the community to interview people and work with environmental groups/organizations, so who do you need to talk to and when will you talk with them?
