Tuesday, November 14. 2017

Hello all. I hope you had a restful long weekend and took time to remember those who have served and who still serve in the Canadian Armed Forces. Today's schedule is C-D-A-B

C Block Human Geography 11 - Today you have the class to get caught up on work from week 10 (last week) whose key questions were: Where Are Religions Distributed?; Why Do Religions Have Different Distributions?; and Why Do Religions Organize Space in Distinctive Patterns?

Don't forget that on Thursday you'll have a test/quiz on Culture (weeks 6 & 7) and Language (weeks 8 & 9).

D Block Criminology 12 - Today your first blog of term two will be to identify the gangs we have in Canada (aboriginal crime groups, cartels, ethnic crime groups, and outlaw motorcycle gangs) and explain the activities of each group: What do they do? How do they do it? What do they control? Where are they based in Canada?

Organized crime by nature (according to Howard Abadinsky) is monopolistic - in other words organized crime groups want to have a monopoly over a specific geographic area for the illicit activity they wish to pursue. (Note: use the section in your text to help as well). For more stories about organized crime (especially a particularly interesting court case in Ontario and Manitoba involving the Bandidos) see:

B Block Physical Geography 12 - Today and tomorrow you have the class to get caught up on work from week 10 (last week). You'll need to get your Medicine Hat topographic map work into me along with your rivers, coastlines, deserts and glaciers work as well.
