Today's schedule is B-A-D-C

B Block Law 12 -  Today I have the library booked for you to continue your work on the major civil law project that is due in just over two weeks from now. After today you only have four (4) blocks remaining to finish this assignment (3 of which are in the library)...no pressure really. And don't forget if you're choosing to do three cases with a video for your law firm...you had better start script writing and planning your production dates ASAP.

A Block Introduction to Law 9/10 - Today we'll focus on courtroom organization discussing the roles and responsibilities of the judge, the crown prosecutor, defense counsel, the court clerk, court recorder, and sheriff. We'll look at the advantages of trial by jury and understand the methods and challenges to jury selection. After we'll focus on the presentation of evidence (Crown first then Defence), the rules of evidence (including voire dire), and types of evidence (circumstantial, hearsay, privileged, and character)

D Block Introduction to Psychology 11 - Today we continue our look at the treatment of mental illness and disorders, focusing on prevention and treatment that are influenced in large part by the social context in which the person is living. We'll talk about group therapy, couples therapy and family therapy. Which is not this...

You'll need to work on the following:

  • Your best friend tells you that she is concerned about her cousin. The cousin—a teenage girl—is constantly coming home after her curfew, and your friend suspects that she has been drinking. What treatment modality would you recommend to your friend and why?
  • You are conducting an intake assessment. Your client is a 45-year-old single, employed male with cocaine dependence. He failed a drug screen at work and is mandated to treatment by his employer if he wants to keep his job. Your client admits that he needs help. Why would you recommend group therapy for him?
  • Given your knowledge about the effectiveness of therapies, what approaches would you take if you were making recommendations for a person who is seeking treatment for severe depression?

C Block Social Studies 11 - Today we'll continue our quick look at demography and population. We'll start with the Miniature Earth video. After watching it, I'd like you to tell me what you observe and I hope to have a discussion on the population information.

The Miniature Earth

After our conversation you may work on the 2016 World Population Data Sheet (using both the PRB Interactive Map and the pdf data sheet) questions I gave you yesterday on world population. Remember, you and a partner will need to find answers to the questions using the current World Population Data Sheet (you may use your digital devices and access the link above or use the photocopied handout of the chart). FYI Find out what your population number is at the BBC site here.
