Today's schedule is D-AG-C-B-A
C Block Law 9/10 - Today I have the library booked so that you may finish your Clue Us In case study major project that was due this past Monday. For the FIVE of you who handed in your project, you may work through the Rookie Training simulation on the Rice University's
CSI: The Experience Web Adventure . Please do the training for
Forensic Biology (DNA), Toxicology, Firearms and Toolmarks (Ballistics), Medical
Examiner (Pathologist) and CSI Ethics. When you are done you may work through Case Two (Canine Caper) - I'll have a lab/work sheet for you to complete as you progress throught the case.
B Block Geography 12 - Today we shift our focus to look at ecosystem components. We'll identify what an
ecosystem is (along with its abiotic and biotic components) and understand what
a community is. We'll see what Tim and Moby have to tell us about ecosystems
and then you'll need to work on questions 1, 4, 6, and 8 from page 661 of your
Geosystems textbook. For help on ecosystems check out:
"The Concept of the Ecosystem"
Ecosystem Fundamentals
Ecological Systems
Living Things: Habitats & Ecosystems
A Block Social Studies 11 - Today we'll look at the rise of surburbia in post WW2 Canada along with the
dramatic changes to Canada's culture and identity as a result of the "baby boom"
generation. We'll look at how society was altered by car culture, "suburbia",
and television (think consumption). British Columbia's own Nat Bailey started White
Spot in 1928 and the 1950's saw the proliferation of "car hops" due
to the culture of the automobile. Today, you'll need to work on question 2, 3, 5
and 6 from page 167 and then we'll look at how the government tried to protect
Canadian culture and the economy. We'll look at the CBC, the Massey Commission
and the CRTC. We'll look at Medicare and social welfare programs. We'll look at
the changes to immigration in Canada, the points system and multiculturalism.
