Today's schedule is A-B-C-D

A Block Law 12 - Today we'll start with a review for our intro unit test on Wednesday (October 3rd, 2012). The unit test will cover the first three chapters of the All About Law text and will have: 15 True/False questions; 15 Multiple Choice questions; 15 Fill In the Blank questions; 15 Matching questions; and 7 Short Answer questions. After the review we'll  continue working on our Human Rights poster (which is due this Thursday - October 4th, 2012). I have poster paper for you and I'll give you the paper once I've seen your ideas (a rough sketch) on paper. Remember you need to create a visually appealing Human Rights Campaign Poster that addresses the human rights violation by incorporating key information (What is happening? Where is it taking place? What rights are being violated? Who is having their rights violated? Why are their rights being violated?) as well as pictures, symbols, and colours. Your poster should seek to draw the attention of the public through the balanced combination of text and visuals in a creative, yet educational manner!

B Block Geography 12 - Today we'll start by finishing the Tsunami video we started yesterday in class: America's Tsunami Are We Next?. You'll need to complete two questions this weekend along with today's activity on plate boundaries. When we finish the video you'll then work on a plate tectonic boundary map of the world. You will need coloured pencils to copy the plate map from your Geosystems text or if you're not here check out:

Ensure that you use different colours for divergent, convergent, and transform boundaries. You'll need to name the plates and show the relative direction that they travel as well. HINT: Do NOT forget the Juan de Fuca plate!

C Block - Criminology 12 - Today we will be in the library working on our third journal / blog entry. Remember the statistics I showed you a few weeks ago about crime trends here in BC? Remember the roots of violence that we looked at this past week? So today I would like you to tell me what you think about violent crime trends here in Canada / B.C. and where you think violence in Canada / B.C. comes from. I want you to tell me if you think violent crime is increasing, decreasing, or staying the same. With this I would like you to be specific in your thoughts (ex: if you think violent crime is increasing what kind of crime? what age group? where? why?) Outline the current trends in crime (age, economy, social problems, firearms availability, gangs, drug use and justice policy - p.37-8 in Criminology: The Core) and crime patterns (ecology, social class, age, gender, and race p.42-9 in Criminology: The Core). You may want to throw in a reason or two why you think that violent crime is over reported in the media and maybe consider explaining why that hurts rather than helps deal with crime. Next find a news story that helps to explain your ideas about violent crime trends, make a link to the news article on your blogsite and then tell me all about how that story exemplifies your thoughts on violent crime trends.Stats Can Crime Trends

D Block Social Studies 11 - Today is your Government of Canada unit final test and if you prepared for it I am certain you will do well. You have the whole block to complete this test. Good Luck. When you are finished, if there is time, you may continue working on your political party project that you've been working theough with Ms. Curry. You'll have tomorrow's class to finish up work on the project for Wednesday's presentations.
