The scam is a "pump and dump", in which a group of "junior Gordon Gekkos" is selling bad stock. The guy in charge buys a large amount of dollar stocks, and has his men inflate the price by selling it over the phone. When the price peaks, guy in charge dumps the stock and leaves the buyers holding worthless shares. The average person loses $30,000, and some victims have lost their homes. The boiler room is mobile, moving to a new location after each stock dump
B Block Geography 12 - Today we look at stream profiles, deltas, and floodplains. We are focusing on the erosive action of rivers along with the landforms that they create. You will need to define nickpoint, undercut bank, point bar, and slip-off slope along with copying a meandering stream profile (figure 14.15 on p.460 in the Geosystems text) and a diagram on oxbow lake formation (figure 14.16 on p.461 in the Geosystems text). Your homework is questions 17, 20, 21 & 22 from page 482 in your Geosystems text.

D Block Social Studies 11 - Today we start by reviewing 1917 - a crucial year in the First World War (Don't forget we already know about Vimy Ridge and Passchendaele). We will take a look at the crisis surrounding conscription (Military Service Act) and see how that issue divided Canada. We'll also look at the Suffragette movement (Nellie McClung) and the Wartime Elections Act of 1917 that was tied to the Military Voters Act. you'll get three supplemental hand-outs today: "The Conscription Crisis"; "A Country Divided the conscription crisis"; and "The Suffrage Movement women get the vote". Using the handouts, you'll need to work on a casualty / enlistment graph for 1917 in class and work through questions 1 & 3 on page 39 and 1 & 4 on page 42 in your Counterpoints text along with the Reconnect questions 1 & 2 on the handout "The Conscription Crisis".
