Tuesday June 14. 2011

Today's schedule is D-C-A-B

D & A - Criminology 12 - OK so this is it. This is the last day to get your seminar topic prepared and ready to go for tomorrow or Thursday. Now let's talk about stress. Some of you are not too fond of public speaking and find it an unpleasant experience. It doesn't have to be. You have five minutes (or more if you need it) to present information on a criminology topic to the class. The information is about something you are interested in and why you are interested in it. Some of you have indicated that you're panicking about speaking in front of the class which is both natural and actually kind of funny (given that you all have done this already just not in a structured format). So look through the following websites to help you plan for your talk:

How to Conquer Public Speaking Fear

Toastmasters Tips & Techniques
Overcoming the Fear of Speaking to Groups

The Art of Speechmaking

C - Geography 12 - Today we'll spend a few minutes working through a Doñana wetlands case study. We'll review it afterwards and then we'll watch a 20 minute on line video called the Story of Stuff.

B - Earth & Space Science 11 - Today we'll finish the Earth and Moon Worksheet # 1 and The Sun and Solar System Worksheets # 2 & 3 (which deal with Kepler's laws and the planets). We'll work through most of this together in class. Don't forget we're back in the library tomorrow to for your last day to work on your project which is the Final Exam so it would be important to finish it before Friday.
Check out the sweet destruction and mayhem story about the sun and its increased phase of Solar Storms here!
