One down...Three to go

Today's schedule is D-C-A-B

D & A - Criminology 12 - Today we'll watch Chapters 1-8 in the movie "The Corporation" and for our last blog entry that we began last Monday, you will need to work on the "Can Corporations Commit Murder" questions 1 & 2 from page 285 as well as question 1 from page 291 in your Criminology the Core textbook. After the documentary today you may begin working on those questions. Please do not forget that the documentary is an opinion piece...it is trying to persuade you that a corporation acts like a psychopath. Not all business is bad but we do need to understand the "corporate view" of white collar criminal activity.

Watch the documentary on You Tube here!

C - Geography 12 - Today we'll continue our look at resources, resource use, and management issues. We'll talk about renewable and non-renewable resources along with the four ethical views on resource use (economic/exploitation; preservationist; balanced-multiple use; and ecological or sustainable). We'll talk about over-consumption and unsustainable resource use practices using the example of water consumption and the Aral Sea. Remember I've asked you to track your family's water consumption for the week and you can use the water footprint calculator at the H20 Conserve website. I'll then show you the National Geographic DVD Human Footprint. There is a great interactive flash site that is connected to the DVD which helps you calculate your Human Footprint.

B - Earth & Space Science 11 - Yesterday we were supposed to begin our look at space science but we used the block to get caught up on the atmosphere and weather work that was due. So today

You can find out all kinds of neat data on NASA's Sky Events calendar. There's lots of astronomical events occurring this year, but our best chance for an eclipse will be a lunar eclipse on December 10, 2011 (at moon set which means early in the morning). This month, the New Moon (No not the movie!) occurs today June 1st @ 14:03 PST while the Full Moon occurs on June 15th @ 13:30 PST (also when a total lunar eclipse happens but we will not be able to see it).

I will then hand out your Stars and Galaxies Worksheets # 1 & 2 which we will work on next along with "For Review" questions 1-7 on page 546 (don't complete it for homework - we'll work on it both at the end of class today and in class tomorrow).
