Today's schedule is D-C-A-B

D & A - Criminology 12 - Today we will take the first twenty-five minutes of class to write our violent crime quiz. After we'll finish the Criminal Minds episode from Friday (The Aftermath) and discuss the profile of the unsub. Lastly, we'll begin our look at property crimes, where we'll discuss the history of theft and make sense of the differences between occasional and professional thieves. If there's time today, we'll turn our focus to shoplifting and examine the Winona Ryder case. You'll need to answer the following:

What are the differences between a professional and an occasional thief?
What is a "situational inducement"?
What is a "Booster", a "Heel", a "Snitch", a "Fence"?
Why do you think Winona Ryder shoplifted (motive)?
Do you think the penalties given to her were appropriate (3 years probation, 4000 hours of community service, $9000 fine, and drug & psychiatric counseling)? Why or why not

Tomorrow we'll focus on auto theft and you'll need to explain the five types of motor vehicle theft and you'll be working on a poster to control shoplifting. If we get to it, we'll look at burglary & Break and Enter. Friday we'll look at arson and watch a Leverage episode on burglary and theft.

B - Earth & Space Science 11 - Today we'll start the class with some time to finish up the notes on Relative and Absolute Dating which will help with the Absolute Dating exercise I gave you at the end of the class yesterday and the Relative Dating Exercise you'll get in class tomorrow as well as your unit test. Included in these notes will be some important concepts: law of superposition; law of original horizontality; principle of cross-cutting relationships; angular unconformities, disconformities, nonconformities, radiometric dating, isotopes, and decay; parent and daughter products; half-lives; Eons, Eras; Periods; and Epochs.

C - Geography 12 - Today we'll watch the Mega Disasters: American Volcano video. Remember that this is a good video that shows what happened at Mount Saint Helens and applies the same principles to Mount Rainier. This is a valuable resource for your project that you are currently working on. We'll talk about the ramification for your project and then we'll examine the probability/likelyhood of Mt. Rainier erupting in the foreseeable future. I will then give you your week six package and in it will be four very simple and easy lessons to complete (Ring of Fire, Snowline, Mountain Blows its Top, and Volcano in my Back Yard). You will have today and tomorrow in class to complete the week six package. There are some important dates to remember: Thursday March 10th is the date for your Orting Case Study assignment and Friday, March 11th is your unit final test. A note about your test. You will have a unit final on tectonics (and to a smaller extent topographic map skills and systems). At the beginning of the year I handed you a review for the final exam (in your course outline) so look over the weeks one through five note/assignment packages and the review on the course outline to see what you should prepare for. If all else fails ask for help.
