Today's schedule is B-A-Lunch-D-C
B - Social Studies 10 - Today is your Map, Atlas, and Canadian Physiographic Regions unit final. You have as much time in today's class to complete the test as necessary but it should take no more than 45-50 minutes. If you came prepared I am certain that you will do fine. When you're done the test you may use whatever time remains to finish up your physiographic regions chart and project which are due on Monday.
A - Earth & Space Science 11 - Today you have your first quiz in Earth and Space Science. Your first order of business is to relax....answer what you know first and then work on the questions you're uncertain of later. If you are prepared I am certain you'll do fine. Since we were in the library for an extra project work day yesterday we'll use the rest of the class to look at yesterday's topics: we'll look at the last few sections about mining and then we'll turn our focus to the rock cycle. I'll have a few short videos to watch and a diagram of two to take down. We will identify the various types of igneous rocks, their properties, and discuss the differences in their composition.
C - Criminology 12 - Last Friday you were supposed to watch the Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit episode "Closure". There was a mix up with the TOC last week so today we'll watch it. This episode deals with the short and long-term effects of a sexual assault on a victim. From TV.com "Benson does her best to help a rape victim who is able to describe her attack in perfect detail, yet unable to properly identify her attacker when push comes to shove. When the detectives revisit the case a few months later, they find the woman even less willing to talk about what happened, as she claims she has moved on." I want you to think hard during this episode and pay careful attention to what happens with Harper's character. We'll talk about it afterward.
For homework this weekend I would like you brainstorm a list of all the entertainment you can think of that is based in violence. Think of video games (HALO), television programs (CSI), books (30 Days of Night comics), movies (Saw), music (ONYX, Biggie, Megadeath, Anthrax, Slayer), sports (MMA, WWE), and other forms of entertainment. Take some time and scan through the TV channels this weekend (yep watch TV for homework)
NOTE: our next quiz will be on Tuesday, next week (March 2nd).
Pau Hana!
