Today's schedule is D-C-Lunch-A-B

Don't forget that today there is a tutorial block from 8:55 - 9:25 and you should go to the class that you need help with. The morning blocks will be one hour in length.

D - Law 12 - Today we'll continue looking at the black comedy of The War of the Roses, based on the book by Warren Adler. In the movie, we'll see how a relationship can stagnate and break down over time due to a lack of communication and respect and then try to understand how two seemingly intelligent and mature people can devolve into the malaise that ensues. Don't forget that Tomorrow is the multiple choice section of your in-class exam.

C - Introduction to Law 9/10 - Today we'll start with looking at trial of an indictable offence. Last week we focused on the three court levels in BC (Provincial, Supreme, and Appeals) and we'll start with a series of questions on those court levels. After, we'll look at the stages of an indictable trial and we'll work on a few questions with that too.

A - Social Studies 11 - Don't forget that you have four activities due this Thursday:
  1. Canada - Botswana country comparison
  2. "The World's Youth" global statistics worksheet
  3. AIDS graph & questions
  4. Canada, Mexico, India and China population pyramid activity
Next we'll take a look at the Human Development Index which focuses on health, poverty and hunger, education, and environmental issues in countries around the world. Don't forget a good resource is the UNDP HDI Report. We'll take a few notes down on HIPC's (Highly Indebted Poor Countries) and the cycle of poverty. Today we will make a connection between the social problems (gender, health, children, etc.) in HIPC's with economic development. We will examine traditional economies which are based in primary industries and subsistence farming and compare those with developing and developed economies. We will look at monoculture in developing countries (Bananas, Coffee, Cotton and Cocoa) and the problems with relying upon one crop for economic development.

B - Geography 12 - Today we continue our look at the ethics associated with resource use, going back to the week 17 package.

We'll watch Home, an incredible documentary by Yann Arthus-Bertrand who also helped to initiate a foundation called Good Planet. Please take some time to share this movie with as many family and friends as you can. You can watch it on line at the YouTube homeproject's channel or connect with it on the film's Facebook page.
