Today's schedule is C-D-Lunch-B-A

C - Introduction to Law 9/10 - Today we are going to look at the ways that an accused person can be brought before the courts here in British Columbia. We'll discuss appearance notices, summons; and arrests (along with the rights of private security guards and citizens). Tomorrow we'll talk about your rights and obligations upon arrest, searches with and without warrants and pre-trial releases (bail, recognizance, and surety).

D - Law 12 - Today we are going to review Intentional Torts (trespass to person, trespass to land, nuisance, and defamation of character). Tomorrow we'll look at the essential and formal requirements for marriage here in BC.

B - Geography 12 - Today is a crucial day in Geography 12; we will be discussing biogeochemical cycles - specifically the carbon and nitrogen cycles. We will also be discussing the flow of energy through an ecosystem (trophic layers and food webs). It is very important that you review systems and feedback from week 1 of the course. For a great on-line text resource check out the Human Ecology textbook by Gerry Marten.

A - Social Studies 11 - Today in class we'll review yesterday's work on population issues. We'll look at the Demographic Transition Model and examine the four stages of population change. Next we'll look at population pyramids and as a class we'll work through questions 1 - 5 on page 326 of the Counterpoints textbook. The remainder of the class will be spent on the Population Activity handout that I will distribute in class. We'll examine the population pyramids of Canada, Mexico, India, and China for 2003 and the projected pyramids for India and China in 2025. You'll have some analytical questions to work on related to the demography of these countries. Don't forget to check out the "World Clock" on the Poodwaddle web site.
