Today's schedule is C-D-Lunch-B-A

C - Introduction to Law 9/10 - Today we are going back into the library to work on our Clue Us In crime scene analysis project. You'll have some time as the week goes along to finish up this crime scene reconstruction activity that you started last week (don't forget that it is due next Wednesday, December 16th, 2009).

D - Law 12 - Today is your criminal law unit final test. If you studied and are prepared then I'm certain you will do fine. We will mark the test together in class and then we'll take a look at the main differences between civil and criminal law for the remainder of the period. Tomorrow you'll get your final project for the year.

B - Geography 12 - Today we'll continue our look at weather in our week 14 package (Day 58) specifically looking at Thunderstorms. We will look at how thunderstorms develop and what damage they can do. I'll show you a few quick videos of hail and lightning to see how they form and then at the end of the class you'll need to work on questions 13 and 14 from page 248 of your Geosystems textbook. Tomorrow we look at tornadoes, Wednesday we look at hurricanes, Thursday we'll spend the class looking at global climate classifications and Friday we're in the library working on our next project. Next Wednesday (December 16th) you'll have a unit final.

A - Social Studies 11 - Today we will spend some time reviewing the work that you did with Mr. Jones. This review will give you a good gage as to whether you are prepared for the Provincial exam (in about a month and a half from now). We'll end off the class by examining the Cold War in greater detail. We'll learn about the economic and political ramifications on Canada of an ideological conflict between the two superpowers. We'll watch the civil defense video "Duck and Cover" along with some of the documentary "The Atomic Cafe". I hope you got a sense of the fear associated with nuclear war and communists (Senator Joseph McCarthy's communist witch hunt - the House Un-American Activities Committee which became known as the ideology of "McCarthyism"). We also took a look at the Truman Doctrine (President Truman pledged assistance to "free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures") which helps you understand your "Cold War Flashpoints" activity where you analyzed the following four conflicts through a W5H approach: Korean War, Vietnam War, Suez Crisis, and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
