Today's schedule is A-B-Lunch-C-D

A - Social Studies 11 - Today we'll finish looking at the economic issues associated with development in the west and Prime Minister Mulroney's response and the change in government policy. You'll need to work on questions 1 & 4 from page 187 in the Counterpoints textbook and then we'll look at some Canada: A People's History episodes to finish.

B - Geography 12 - Today we will finish Twister (see a preview here). Remember you need to identify meteorological errors (look at the "goofs" section on the IMDb website or the 68 Things wrong with Twister website) and you need to figure out who is most like Mr. Young.

Alan Ruck is Robert Nurick "Rabbit" (and Ferris Bueller's friend Cameron too!)
Bill Paxton is Bill Harding "the Extreme"
Helen Hunt is Dr. Jo Harding
Philip Seymour Hoffman is Dustin Davis "Dusty"

Please respond to this post with your answers to who you think is most like me and make sure you explain why. To look at some real storm chasers check out the Discovery Channel Storm Chasers web site.

C - Introduction to Law 9/10 - Today we'll watch two more episodes of I: Detective

D - Law 12 - Hmmmmm...last block on the last day before Christmas Break. When you come to class we'll just see what surprises there are in store for you; by the way you'll be with Mr. Lees next door in room 609.

Pau Hana!
Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! (Hawaiian for Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!)

Mr Young = Dusty

The most obvious problem with the movie is that the characters can get very close to the tornado without being blown away, or there even being any wind. In reality, these people would be struggling against the wind, if not being sucked into the tornado.

Oh Danean...Dusty? Really is it that obvious? "Oh sister this is the fun part"
Did you notice that all of the tornadoes blew and didn't suck? The wind seemed to be blowing away from the tornado and not sucking into the vortex.
Thanks!

Mr. Young is obviously dusty, without question.

Some of the biggest mistakes in the movie? That they could get that close to the tornado and still function normally, and they could not tie themselves to pipes with belts or whatever they were and stay secure whilst inside the twister. Also, if you didn't notice, there was debris, massive trucks... COWS... flying through that tornado at incredibly high speeds, they would have sustained AT LEAST one major injury... but, miraculously, they did not.

That was from Cecilia, by the way.

Dusty Cecilia? I certainly do get excited about weather.Good job on recognizing the stupidity of the last scene in the movie. There is no way that you could survive a direct strike of an EF5 tornado above ground (they should have been shredded to pieces). Also the whole "eye of a tornado" thing inside the EF5 was bunk too. Thanks

Mr. Young is SO Dusty!

Also, the truck being span around by the twins looked REALLY fake.
