Today's schedule is A-B-Lunch-C-D

A - Social Studies 11 - Today with Mr. Lux you will begin the class with current events. Remember that you will be responsible for bringing a news item to class and each day we'll have five students share. After you'll review the section of Saving Private Ryan that you watched in class yesterday. After you'll have the rest of the class to work through the Nazism and Fascism worksheets. In this we'll talk about a man named Garrett Hardin who wrote an article called "The tragedy of the Commons" and we'll see how his ideas have relevance to our topic in class.

B- Social Studies 10 - To start the class with Mr. Lux today we'll begin with current events. Remember that you will be responsible for bringing a news item to class and each day we'll have five students share. We'll then take a bit of time to review yesterday's conflict resolution activity and think about how that relates to the Riel and Metis situation on the prairies in the late half of the 19th Century. You'll then go over the Riel and Metis worksheets that you have the next two days to work through. The rest of the class is for you to work through the assigned work.

C - Criminology 12 - Today we'll wrap up the work we began last week on Chapter 1 in the Criminology: The Core textbook. We'll quickly review the history of criminological thought and discuss the differences between criminal and deviant behaviour. Next I will take you through a brief history of crime and end with contemporary perceptions on crime, the elements of a crime, and criminal defences. You have one thing to accomplish today:
  1. You need to complete your list of things that are criminal but not deviant and deviant but not criminal. Choose one and explain why we should make that behaviour criminal or why we should decriminalize that behaviour (From last Thursday's class).
Don't forget to e-mail me your blog site URL's for your weekly journal mark.
