Friday, October 3, 2008

Friday's schedule is A-B-Lunch-C-D.

A - Law 12 - Today we're in the library beginning our work on a controversial legal issues project. You will need to choose a controversial legal topic to research (strengthening or eliminating gun control, criminalizing abortion, allowing physician assisted suicide & euthanasia, amending the Youth Criminal Justice Act, censorship of "obscene" material, music file sharing & copyright, decriminalization of marijuana, and same sex unions are all some suggestions). Good news; I've had to move the date of your first test to next Friday (October 10th) instead of next Monday (October 5th). Now you'll have more time to prepare!

B- Earth and Space Science 11 - Yesterday we worked on the first part of our geologic time lab. You'll have the rest of the class today to work on it and then to focus on the second part of the activity, which is an absolute and relative dating exercise. We'll watch a short video to help us with both yesterday's portion of the lab and today's related exercise. Remember your mining project is due today and first test will be next Monday (October 5th).

D - Geography 12 - Today....Oh today we start on Volcanoes....Sweet! It's another Bill Nye the Science Guy video and then we'll try to understand the five different types of volcanoes, with examples, and see if we can figure out where these beasts are on the planet. This all sets us up for our Mt. Rainier project next week. We'll look at the Mount Saint Helens eruption of 1980 (May 18th at 8:32 am) and watch some sweet vids on Kilauea. Warning: Geek Alert!

Pau Hana!
