Today's schedule is ABCD

A Block Physical Geography - Today we are going to make sense of ecosystem evolution and community succession (thrown in will be the terms establishment and extinction). We'll try to understand how species co-evolve and adapt to create complex communities (self regulation and emergent properties) and then we'll look at  Mount St. Helens to understand primary and secondary succession. We'll watch the last portion of the DVD "Fire Mountain: The Eruption and Rebirth of Mount St. Helens" in order to better grasp the rates of recovery for ecosystems around the volcano. The embedded video below from PBS is also a very good (specifically chapters 3 "The Blowdown Zone" and 5 "Bouncing Back") You'll need to complete questions 21 and 22 from page 662 of your Geosystems text along with a question on fire ecology and the effects of modern fire suppression. For more on ecosystem services and conservation see the National Geographic Earth Pulse website

B Block Human Geography - After today there are 15 classes remaining in the semester, with 3 Friday's in the learning commons for your Inquiry project. The Geo-Inquiry fair is on the morning of Tuesday, June 25th in the superlab. So, that being said, today we will be going to the Library/Learning Commons for another day to work on your Inquiry Project. Today is another check in day. I'll need you to show me the research you've conducted and the question that you've narrowed your topic into. I will need you to develop a plan (road map) for your inquiry. What do you need to do? How do you plan to go about doing it? When do you plan on getting it done.  Don't forget this is an active research project and I expect you'll need to go out into the community to interview people so who do you need to talk to and when will you talk with them? So yeah...it's the day where you really need to engage in research okay? Don't forget test next Thursday, June 6th, on food and services.

C Block Criminology - Work day...Highway of Tears questions; My Kid Would Not do That questions; Personal poster of the social influences on you; Clique group poster; or learning commons for on-line questions.

D Block Law - After today there are 15 classes remaining in the semester, with nine more classes in the learning commons to complete your civil litigator project. You will have a final test on civil law (torts, negligence, and family law) on Thursday, June 13th. I will bring previous examples of the project with me to the learning commons for you to peruse if you'd like. Next Tuesday, I'll show you a few law commercials so you have an idea as to what you can do. If you need to film in front of a green screen you need to make arrangements with Mr. Ingram in room 003...preferably today.
