Today's schedule is D-C-Lunch-A-B

C - Criminology 12 - Today I'll review yesterday's work on the three theories of victimization and the two questions from the end of the chapter. To bridge the topics of violent crime and victimization I'll have you create a poster showing a typical victim of a violent crime. You will need to choose a type of violent crime (homicide, assault, sexual assault, criminal harassment - stalking, hate crimes, kidnapping) and identify the personal characteristics, behaviours, and traits of the most likely victim of that crime (consider age, gender, social status, relationship status, race or ethnicity, prior victimization, behaviour, location, culture, etc...). You'll need to explain & draw the victim and then describe the theory of victimization that explains why they would fall prey to that crime. NOTE: our next quiz (on victims & victimology) will be on Tuesday, next week (March 2nd).

A - Earth & Space Science 11 - Don't forget your project is due tomorrow (February 26th) and you also have your first quiz tomorrow. Today we'll look at the last few sections about mining and then we'll turn our focus to the rock cycle. I'll have a few short videos to watch and a diagram of two to take down. We will identify the various types of igneous rocks, their properties, and discuss the differences in their composition. For the current value of minerals produced in Canada check out the Natural Resources Canada Mineral and Metal Commodity Review website. You could also check out the Infomine website.

B - Social Studies 10 - Today is another class to work on our Physiographic Regions of Canada project and worksheet. I will have the Over Canada video on for you to watch; WARNING it's a bit cheezy with overdramatic monologues extolling the wonders of the country and its regions. The video is, nonetheless, really good to show the country especially if you've not been to the locations it shows.
