Today's schedule is A-AG-B-C-D

Last week at Vanier we held the Student Vote and, as per voting laws in Canada, I'll post the results at the end of voting on Monday night. If you are a voter in Canada please take the time today to exercise your democratic rights and vote for the candidate of your choice in your riding.

A Block Social Studies 10 - Today we'll talk about the colonial government in Upper and Lower Canada and see why they were a cause for rebellion in both colonies. We'll look at the list of grievances in Upper Canada and the unique situation in Lower Canada (Quebec) specifically we'll see how economic problems, language and nationalism were contributors to discontent. We'll take a few notes on the causes of discontent that led to traitorous talk in the colonies and finally I'll have you work on questions 1, 2 & 3 on page 72 of the Horizons textbook.

C Block Criminology 12 - Today we're back in the library for you to continue your blog work. For this new entry I'd like you to find out as much information as you can about two notorious Canadian murderers... Clifford Robert Olson Jr. (Serial) and Marc Lépine (Mass). For this assignment I'd like you to tell me what they did and why they did it....use Levin & Fox's typology of serial and mass murder to explain motives. Do not use Wikipedia as your source for this assignment use the links on the names above. Aside from answering what they did and why they did it, also try to state which serial killer category Olson is: mission-oriented, hedonistic, visionary, power/control, thrill killer, expedience killer; (and define whichever category you select). Also,  answer what can we learn from their horrific actions and is it ever possible to stop people like this in Canada? Why or Why not?

D Block Geography 12 -  Today we're going to start our new unit on gradation. We've looked at the process of building up the land through tectonics and energy from below. Now we'll focus on breaking down the surface of the Earth and today we cover "geomorphology". We'll look at some slopes on Google Earth and then you will need to work on questions 2, 5, and 6 from page 442 in your Geosystems text. The United States Geological Survey has a good web page on Landslides here and this flash animation website from the University of Kentucky Geology department will help as well. The Atlas of Canada has a good site on Landslides in Canada.
