Today's schedule is A-AG-B-C-D
A Block Law 9/10 - Today we are back in the library for the last day this week to work on the Clue Us In crime scene investigation
project. Please remember that the library has books on forensic
investigation and I have books on crime scene investigation as well. Use
these resources to aid you in the development of your project. Remember
you need to create a crime...replicate the crime scene...investigate
the crime as if you were an R.C.M.P. officer...and prepare a dossier
file to hand over to Crown Counsel so that they may prosecute the case.
Good Luck.
B Block Social Studies 10 - Today we'll finish up the grade 9 Social Studies review that we began in yesterday's class. After, I will ask you to brainstorm two questions...What is a rebellion
and Why
do rebellions happen? After a brief yet I'm quite certain brilliant
discussion I'd like you to define the following: Family
Compact, United Empire Loyalist, Clergy Reserves, Assembly, and
Governor. I'll have you work on the two questions on the "Get to the
Source: The Family Compact" section on page 53 of Horizons and we'll finish by looking at Clergy and Crown Reserves in Upper Canada.
In case you forgot,
here are some websites to help refresh your memory:
Seven Years War
website
War of 1812 website
PBS War of 1812
Canadian Atlas OnLine War of 1812
War of 1812 (Can Geo/Historica/Parks Canada)
United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada
C Block Criminology 12 - I'd like to share the CBC DocZone
Documentary "Sext Up Kids"
with you. The documentary exposes how growing up in a hyper-sexualized
culture hurts our kids and sends the wrong messages that could
potentially lead to sexual assaults. From the CBC site:
From tiny tots strutting bikini-clad bodies in beauty pageants to
companies marketing itty-bitty thongs and padded bras to 9-year olds,
images of ever-younger sexualized girls have become commonplace. Add
to that: ever-younger boys with 24-7 access to hard-core internet
porn. It saturates their lives - from skate parks to the school bus –
by the time they’re eighteen, 80 percent of boys are watching porn
online.
So we'll watch the documentary and use information from it to help with our blog entry next Tuesday.
D Block Law 12 - Today, you'll need to work on questions 1-5 on page 123. Here are some websites to help:
Offence Classification at defencelaw.com
Summary Conviction explanation at Duhaime legal information
3 Main Types of Criminal Offences in BC (by John Dykstra)
After we'll watch "True North" an episode of Law & Order from season 9.
In the episode, the double murder of a wealthy man and his daughter
leads the detectives to the wife and stepmother of the deceased.
However, Canada's objection to the death penalty hampers McCoy and
Carmichael in seeking crucial evidence for obtaining a conviction. We'll
discuss the episode after its conclusion and don't forget...Poster due today.
