Today's schedule is A-B-C-D-X

A Block Law 9/10 - Today we'll spend time discussing the differences between mass and serial murder. We will look at profiling and begin to understand what a psychopath is. Dr. Robert Hare of the University of British Columbia created a checklist called the PCL-R (Psychopathy Checklist Revised). We'll examine the "Unholy Trinity" of serial killer characteristics and today we'll watch a video on how profiling was developed in the F.B.I. Behavioural Science Unit (through the efforts of many highlighted by the work of John Douglas) today. The first part of the video focuses on Wayne Williams and then looks at Robert Hansen. Don't forget that in Canada the R.C.M.P. call the technique criminal investigative analysis.

B Block Social Studies 11 - Today we'll have some time to work on the "Job Wanted" advertisement for the Prime Minister of Canada. On your wanted ad you will need to include:

  1. Job description (role and powers that the PM has)
  2. Job requirements (expectations and necessary capabilities)
  3. Preferred personal characteristics (choose five qualities of leadership that we discussed and explain what they mean for a PM) and
  4. Symbols (of Canadian identity)
This assignment is due Monday (February 25) so use your time wisely this weekend. I'll wrap up the branches of Federal government with you today in class and next week we'll move on to elections and voting in Canada and wrap up our government unit with your rights and ways to influence government.

C Block Social Studies 10 - Today we'll connect our mapping, five themes and physiogeographic work together. I'll go through pages 18–23 of your textbook together with you and I want you to consider which of the five themes of geography is being described for each region. On the handout I give you, categorize the information into the correct theme. Be sure to include at least one piece of information in each category. Some information may be appropriate for more than one category and may be reused, but be prepared to defend your decision.
