Today's schedule is C-D-Lunch-B-A

C - Introduction to Law 9/10 -
Today we will watch an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent The Third Horseman (Season 1, episode 2115). From tvguide.com

When a pro-life loner (guest star Robert Stanton) stalks and shoots a doctor, Detectives Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Eames (Kathryn Erbe) begin tracking him through his contacts and when they find a second gun, they reach a chilling conclusion -- their suspect has not acquired his final target. But while prosecuting attorney Carver (Courtney B. Vance) worries about turning a murder case into a litmus test on abortion before a jury, Goren tries to find out the real reason for the gunman's rage.

Of course we'll talk about intent (mens rea) and then we'll discuss the ways that evidence was obtained (legal methods of obtaining evidence).

D - Geography 12 - Today we will get to watch Twister (see a preview here). I apologize for not having it in my classroom yesterday but it was there before and it somehow disappeared. I went on a DVD hunt last night and was worried after the third store that I would not be able to find it. My daughter has a keen eye and spotted it in our last stop of the night. So remember you need to identify as many meteorological errors as you possibly can (like most of the tornadoes blow rather than suck - of course that means outflow rather than inflow) and you need to figure out who is most like Mr. Young. Erik McArthur has already sworn that I am totally like Robert 'Rabbit' Nurick, simply because he's the guy who gets angry when people fold maps rather than roll maps. Oh Erik..."Rabbit is good Rabbit is wise" but I just don't see the resemblance! True though, you should roll the maps.

(Alan Ruck is "Rabbit" and Ferris Bueller's friend Cameron too!)

Please respond to this post with your answers to who you think is most like me and make sure you explain why. To look at some real storm chasers check out the Discovery Channel Storm Chasers web site.

B- Earth and Space Science 11 - Today we'll finish up the disaster movie The Day After Tomorrow. Oh disaster, how you make me laugh so. If you missed me LMAO about the tornado scene in Los Angeles you can giggle yourself; watching it on youtube here. If you prefer to see my favourite way that nature kills people look no further than the first minute and twenty seconds of the clip here. Remember that yesterday I posted many websites that help to explain the scientific inaccuracies in the movie but don't let that stop you from having fun.

A - Law 12
- Hmmmmm...last block on the last day before Christmas Break and Mount Washington opening to boot. When you come to class we'll just see what surprises there are in store for you.

Pau Hana!
Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! (Hawaiian for Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!)

soo i'm thinking mr young is a cross between bill and jo, mostly just because they are both crazy about weather and dont really care about their personal saftey as long as they get to see the tornado, and get dorthy "flying". And also bill has that 6th sense where he can read the storms and mr young knows way to much about weather so he could prob do something wierd like that too.

Good thoughts Ashley. There's no doubt that I wish I had some of Bill Harding's weather sense. Sometimes I "feel" the weather and have that sixth sense that Bill has in the movie - or maybe that's just wishful thinking! As for Dr. Jo Harding I think she takes too many risks with weather conditions - you're right they are crazy. She is really passionate about understanding weather and so I think in that way we're alike.

Interesting ideas so far family.

I think Mr Young is Dustin 'Dusty' Davis because he would be as excited and as crazy about the tornado hunt as Dusty is. He totally enjoys the trip and i think Mr Young would too.

Nice Kerstin..."The suck zone it's the point, basically, at which the twister sucks you up, but it's not that technical..." Yeah I like Dusty he's a weather geek and a bit off his rocker - "It's the wonder of nature baby!"
