Today's schedule is B-A-Lunch-D-C.

B- Earth and Space Science 11 - Today we start by looking at the difference between explosive and effusive volcanoes. There are four main factors at play here:
  1. The viscosity of the magma
  2. The amount of dissolved gasses in the magma
  3. The speed at which pressure is released when magma nears the surface
  4. The amount of heated ground water
If you want some notes look at the power point presentation here or here.
Lastly we'll watch Pompeii: The Last Day and see some very cool recreations of the eruption at Mount Vesuvius that destroyed Herculaneum and Pompeii.

A - Law 12 - Today we will finish the drinking and driving activity we started yesterday. This activity is due Monday.

D - Geography 12 - Today we're looking at streams and drainage basins. You'll need to work on a few definitions, a diagram, and questions 1, 3, 10, 11, and 12 from page 481 in your Geosystems textbook. A map of Canada's drainage basins can be found here. and the Canadian Atlas online has a great section on drainage basins too. Notes on these topics can be found here.
