Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Wednesday's schedule is A-B-Lunch-C-D.

A - Law 12 - Yesterday we began our look at the major divisions of law in Canada and worked on questions from pages 9 and 12 (due today in class). Today we'll look at Hammurabi, Mosaic law, Common law, Precedent and Case law. We'll try to understand how to read a case citation and work on some case studies in class.

B- Earth and Space Science 11 - Yesterday we looked at uniformitarianism, catastrophism, feedback in systems and thresholds. This put us at the end of the first chapter and you will get some time in class today to work on your chapter one review (due this Friday). Today we'll start to look at minerals and mineral structure. Our first lab will be later on this week (identifying minerals) and a reminder that our first quiz will be next week.

D - Geography 12 - We will look at systems in geography today and will finish our look at the five themes of geography (human-environment interactions, movement, and regions). Today will be an important class as everything we look at in geography will be through the lens of systems science. We'll look at systems, feedback, equilibrium, and thresholds. A reminder: the "Geography ID" assignment is due on Thursday (NOTE: you'll need access to the Internet and Google Earth - download Google Earth for free at http://earth.google.com/) and your "Observing as a Geographer" assignment is due today.
