Monday, September 22, 2008

Monday's schedule is C-D-Lunch-B-A.

D - Geography 12 - Today we will begin our look at the lithospheric plates and the crust of the earth. We'll watch a brief video on the scientific theory of the creation of the earth and then shift into the rock cycle and the two types of crustal rock (sial and sima). You'll have one question for homework tonight all about isostasy and crustal equilibrium.

B- Earth and Space Science 11 - Today we will continue our work on rocks. We will identify the various types of igneous rocks, their properties, and discuss the differences in their composition. We'll then focus on how sedimentary rock is formed and will have a few questions and definitions to work on for homework tonight. All of this is, of course, after our first quiz that we'll have in class today. I hope you prepared and I'm certain you will do fine.

A - Law 12 - On the weekend I asked you to complete a rough copy of a newspaper article for the R. v. Keegstra Supreme Court of Canada case. Remember you need about four paragraphs dealing with: a brief history - summary of the case (why he was charged and what the decisions in the lower ourts were); an explanation of the charter rights violations and Keegstra's defence; an explnation of the decision made by the justices of the Supreme Court; and opinion from both sides (those for and against Keegstra's defence). Today I will discuss the case at length with you and give you some hints to help. After, we'll begin our look at Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms sections 7-14 (your legal rights) and if there's time we'll look at "Sniffy the Rat" and artist Rick Gibson. To either giggle or be horrified check out the CBC story here.
